Hot Chocolate Stirs

So as I was looking through Pinterest for ideas for Christmas gifts for friends and neighbors I found a pin for hot chocolate marshamallow stirs. Perfect! It's easy and not very messy. I paired them up with yummy hot chocolate to give away. Here is how I made them.

- 1 bag cocoa Wilton candy melts
- 1 bag dark mint Wilton candy melts
- 1 bag crushed peppermint (i found it at Joanns)
- 2 bags of large marshmallows
- 3 bags of soft peppermint sticks (you can find them at Cracker Barrel)

With the candy melts you can melt them 2 ways, either in the microwave or double boiler on the stove. I did it on the stove. I then dipped the marshmallows in the chocolate, and then dipped them in the crushed peppermint. I placed them on a lined cookie sheet to harden. I let the marshmallows sit out for about a day uncovered b/c I found that the peppermint sticks didn't stand up straight if the marshmallows were soft. After I let them sit out it was easier to poke a small hole on top and then push the stick into it. They stood up better so that I can package them. Here is how they turned out!

Super cute right! I loved how they turned out.

Christmas Onesie

Since having a girl I've been having a lot of fun creating cute outfits for her and dressing her up!! Well I wanted to create a fun Christmas outfit for her to wear on Christmas day so I got to work. First I had to find a plain red onesie. I looked online and found an online shop called Rock Bottom T's. They had every color imaginable and seriously cheap prices! Score! I then headed over to Joann's to scoop up some Christmas fabric that was on sale. The final result was this!

With some Christmas ribbon that I already had and some rhinestones I made this super cute onesie! I totally love it and it was so easy to make. Next up a really cute tutu to match! Stay tuned for that.

Thanksgiving Pumpkin

So this may be totally random but at work our managers gave us a small pumpkin and supplied some ribbon and told us to make something with it. There will be a contest on Wed the 21st to see who has the best decorated pumpkin. So I got to work, who can pass up a time to be crafty at work! At first I thought that I would make a turkey, easy right. Well as I was glueing on the feathers another idea popped into my head, make an Indian!

Uploaded from the Photobucket iPhone App
Cute, huh!?!

Here is what was used

- small pumpkin
- ribbon
- feathers
- a pair of googly eyes
- doll hair
- glue gun

Assemble with love! Have fun!!

Dresser Upcylce

Finally a post about a project that I worked on for the baby's room!! Better late than never.

So anyways, I have this old antique dresser from my teen years, that mom also used when she did hair. My little brother had used it until my dad bought him a new bedroom set. Well my dad had asked if I wanted it and of course I said yes. At the time I didn't know I was pregnant and really had no idea what I was going to do with it. So it stayed in my dad's garage until a few weeks before I had the baby.

I went on maternity leave at 38 weeks so I got busy working on the dresser. It took me a full week to go from start to finish. One because I was 38 weeks pregnant and two it was really hot to really do too much. I would wake up early and work on it for about an hour or two, that was because I had to let paint dry and that was just about all I could do without getting too tired. Ok now on to how I went about redoing an old dresser.

First I cleaned and lightly sanded the dresser. There were a lot of stickers on this dresser and thanks to goo-be-gone I was able to get them all off.

Next I primed the entire dresser.

Then I painted the dresser. First 2 coats, then I antiqued it with a light brown coat of paint. After that dried I painted another light coat and then used a polyurathane to seal it.

Final product! I love it! I added new knobs and pulls that I found at Hobby Lobby. It has a mirror which you can see on the floor. I still haven't found the right pins to able to hang the mirror on the dresser.

Baby girl will be able to use this dresser for awhile.

Homemade Flour Tortillas

The other I wanted to make tacos but found that I didn't have tortillas on hand. At first I felt defeated b/c I really wanted to make tacos for dinner. Then the light went off, I can make homemade flour tortillas! So I found a recipe and modified it a bit to work for me. Here is how my tortillas turned out. Please don't laugh b/c they are not round, but they sure were tasty!

Here's what they looked like as I was rolling them out.

This is what they looked like after they were cooked. mmmm

Flour Tortillas

Ingredients
  • 4 cups flour (white or whole wheat)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp lard or Crisco
  • 2 cups water
Cooking Directions
  1. In medium bowl mix flour, salt, and baking powder. Then mix in the lard until it has been blended in. Add water and mix until the dough comes together. Place on a lightly floured area and knead for a few minutes until smooth and elastic. Then divide into small balls.
  2. Preheat a skillet over med-high heat. Roll the balls into thin, round tortillas. Then place onto hot skillet, cook until bubbly and golden brown. Then flip until other side is golden brown.

Sorry for my hiatus but I have been enjoying my new baby girl. Now that we have figured out some kind of a schedule I have had to time to sit down and sew. I had bought some really cute fabric months ago to make an apron and well I was able to complete it today. Here is my newest item in my shop!

It has been listed in shop and is currently on sale! I have a few more that I plan on adding in the next few days so stay tuned for those. I have a couple that are for Halloween as well! I can't wait to get sewing again!

Apron Wall Hanging

So recently I got my MIL hooked on Pinterest. Good or Bad mistake I don't know yet, but she LOVES IT!!!! I was showing her my boards and we were in my Organization and Tips board and she saw this pin:

Pinned Image

She got all excited and said the she wanted to make that. LOL Then asked me, "where would I put it?" I knew exactly where she need to put it! I told her she needs to replace her apron hook with it. She immediately went over to her wall and said. "Yep, you're right!"

(The wall before. FYI that hook has already fallen off once before! She collects aprons.)

Well the other day I was over at my in-laws house after work for our weekly Family Night and she got all excited b/c she had bought the things to make it and HAD to show me. LOL I love her! She brought out the piece of wood and had my FIL measure the wall and the board. He cut it and sanded it. We had to run over to Hobby Lobby b/c she needed one more knob. We got the knobs placed and my FIL drilled the holes. He even created some extra support for a couple of the knobs so that they would stick up more for a place to hang an apron.

View photo.JPG in slide show
( Do you see the extra wood there behind the knob? My FIL is a genius! He thought of that.)

Here is what the board looked like when all the knobs were temporairly placed before the board was painted.

Cute huh!? All the knobs sit level with each other.

My FIL painted it and got it mounted onto the wall and this is what it looks like now.

She can now find the apron that she wants to wear without having to dig for it!

I think that I will be making one of these to hang baby girls headbands on.

Nursery Disaster

Okay the title may be a little dramatic but it got your attention. We are just about done wrapping up decorating the nursery. The walls are painted the curtain is up, the bedding is all pick out and the closet organized and ready for baby. Well on Monday night of this week we decided it was time to put the crib together. Well as my husband and FIL were bringing up the pieces they noticed that each piece was damaged in some way. WHAT?!!!?? It must've been damaged during shipping. I was really bummed and my husband was upset. So I called the company to let them know, because we just want to send the crib back and get our money back. It's been a week and I'm still waiting for an answer from the furniture company about what they are going to do. In the meantime I have found a new crib and a dresser that will serve as a changing table that we will be purchasing soon. We have about 4 1/2 weeks to go, we need a crib! So pictures of the finished nursery will be delayed. I'm totally bummed b/c it is looking super cute. Stay tuned for an update.

Custom Order

My custom order is finally finished and has been delivered. Although there was a small fiasco with my sewing maching in which it decided to die on my as I was almost done. Here is what I made.

This is one of the aprons that I made. The girl who ordered them wanted to have a lot of pockets for prizes for the kids at church during singing time.

I'm thinking about putting some aprons into my shop of course they won't have that many pockets. I would love some feedback.

Melaleuca Testimonial

As some of you may know or don't know, my husband and I have signed up with Melaleuca to be distributors as a small side venture for extra income. I haven't been as active promoting as I should have because I wanted to be sure that we had tried as much of the products before sharing. Well it's now April and we have been using the products since August and really love them! In fact they are really good products that are safe and environmentally friendly. Okay now here's my personal testimonial.

A few nights ago my son had a bloody nose and ended up getting his sheets, pillow and comforter with blood. Ugh!! As we all know blood is not easy to remove and usually will leave a residual stain even after washing and using a spot treatment. I have been using Melaleuca's Prespot treatment spray for regular foods stains and it does a good job getting those out. So I thought well now is a good time to test to see if it will get blood out. I saturated everwhere that had a blood stain, threw it into the wash on a presoak cycle and let it do its thing. After the wash cycle was over I inspected every inch of the sheets and didn't find one trace of blood!! Not one!! I couldn't believe it I was super excited about that! Now my son has stainfree sheets and pillow!

This product by far has exceed my expectations! I have thrown on my Shout spray and will use this spray from now on!

** Just as a side note the picture above is the concetrate bottle, you mix it in a spray bottle with water (picture below).**

This is the spray bottle you use to mix with.

If you want to learn more about these amazing products send me an email and I would be more than happy to share more!!

At first I wasn't sure if my son would like it but he ate his entire plate and said that he liked the flavor! Phew!! I served it over white rice, that was cooked in my rice cooker, along with a side of aparagus. So here is the recipe.

Orders

Sorry I haven't posted much but I have been busy filling custom orders and nesting and my day job. I had the opportunity to make this super cute birthday tutu.

I had so much fun making this and it was received with as much excitement! You can see the little girl wearing it at Momma T and Baby E blog. I've been playing around with the idea of listing tutus in my shop but for now I do them as custom orders.

I also have received a custom order request to make 2 aprons for a girl for church as a helper tool in her Primary. I'm really excited about this one and have ordered her fabric and can't wait to get started! I will post pictures of that once it's done.

Oh I forgot to mention that I'm partcipating in a giveaway this week at Momma T and Baby E and my giveaway item is a tutu that will fit a 2-3 year old. Check back on Friday and I will have the link up to the giveaway!

New Printable

This week's lesson for church was on I Can Tell Other's about Jesus Christ, which in other words is being a Missionary. I thought that it would be fun for the kids if I made them missionary tags. I have seen the plastic ones that say Future Missionary but I didn't want to spend to much money. So I created paper ones and they turned out super cute! So I converted my word doc into a PDF file and loaded it onto Scribd to be shared. Check it out! You can also find the link to it in my Printable page.

Shop Highlight: BeckyBLB

I'm really excited to introduce to you Becky Miller from BeckyBLB. She and I are part of the Etsy team Etsy Bows. She's new to Etsy but her shop is stocked full of super cute bows and baby accessories. So without further adieu here she is!

Hi! Thanks for highlighting my shop! I really appreciate it.

1. I am a stay at home mom with 3 little girls. i am always making things for them, and family members, and creating is what I do to calm down, clear my head, reward myself, or take a break from housework. It's just what i love to do. I decided I would love to make things for other little princesses, and started my etsy shop in december.

2. I love bow making, crocheting, scrapbooking, painting, working out, and playing games with my kids and husband.

3. I opened my shop so I'd have a good excuse to spend more time making things. My girls could never wear/use all of the things i make, so I found myself giving things away all the time.

4.i called my shop pretty little bows by beckyblb because i am all about my little princesses. I often call them my pretties. and decided I'd like to honor them in the shop name. becky blb comes from an old email address when I was first dating my husband. I used blb to stand for becky loves ben. and I still do, so I like to use it on websites when I can.

5. So far my favorite part of having my shop is meeting so many nice and fun people. I've gotten lots of tips and help from people on etsy without even asking, and i love making things and thinking about the person or kid who will be using it soon.

I would love to give away a free set of mini flower clips with every order in my shop that mentions they found me through your blog. I'll run that special through the end of February. I also created a coupon code for 25% off: PRETTYBOWS.

Here is what the clips look like.

mini crochet flower clips

I would also like to giveaway an order of 10 of my itty bitty bows as well.

lot of 6 itty bitty bows
Thanks Becky for sharing! Those are super cute! Okay so here's how you will win the Itty Bitty Bows.

1. Become a fan of her FB page Pretty Little Bows and leave a comment on her wall that you are from The Pink Senorita.

Mom's Workshop

I was just recently contacted about listing my items on a site called Mom's Workshop, which is a free site, almost like Etsy. So I thought why not it couldn't hurt list my items on another website for more exposure. So last night I submitted my first listing and it was approved and now this morning it was up and live! I'm really excited about this, I hope I can get more business from it. I want my shop to grow. I want it to be able to help supplement what I am making working full time at Wells Fargo. I want to be able to quit my job about a year after this baby arrives. I hope that this is the way to do it. I will still have my Etsy shop. I'm always thinking up ways to try to expand out for more exposure. So go ahead and pass this note along to check out Mom's Workshop. Here is the link to what my listing is. (Click Here)

Baby News!!

If you follow me on Facebook then you already heard our exciting news! The day after Thanksgiving, seriously the day after, I found out I was pregnant. I had gone in to work and I was really exhausted. At first I thought that it was the combination of all the overtime and turkey that got to me. So after work I headed over to Walgreens and picked up a test thinking it couldn't hurt to check. Well to my surprise the test was positive! I had to do a double take b/c honestly it was a big surprise. We were not trying at all but I guess someone has other plans for us. :) I had my second appointment yesterday and all is well. The Dr gave me an official due date of July 18th, they baby may come sooner, but that date felt good to us. So here is a new picture of pending arrival!

We are super excited!!
