Fun Friday - Robot

My son has been learning about robots this past week at school and so his teacher sent home an optional assignment, which I was hoping he didn't want to do, guess I was wrong, to write about a robot and make one. She said to be creative and not draw one. So we followed the directions and didn't draw one. Last night I, err. . we, got to work creating a robot. We used small shipping boxes and envelope, that I found at Walgreens, foil, pipe cleaners, google eyes, that I happen to have in my craft supplies, 2 hot wheels cars and lots and LOTS of tape, packing tape it was much sturdier.

Meet Sam the Robot

Cute huh?!

Recipe of the Week - Apple Crisp

Yesterday I was completly inspired by some cupcakes that were being sold for our Climb to Conquer Cancer fundraiser that I had to make an Apple Crisp for dessert later that night. I found a simple recipe but added a few of my own tricks to make it better, that I wanted to share with you today.

Apple Crisp

{The picture I found online b/c my camera hadn't been charged. :(}

3 pounds tart apples (I used 1.5 lbs Gala Apples and 1.5 lbs Granny Smith)
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract ( I added this in)
1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
{2/3 cup all-purpose flour
2/3 cup granulated sugar
2/3 cup rolled oats
1 stick of butter, cold } - - from the flour to the butter I doubled it b/c I love the crispy top. mmm
1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Peel, core and chop the apples; toss in a bowl with lemon juice and vanilla. In a separate bowl, combine the brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg; add to the apples and toss to combine.

In another bowl combine flour, sugar and oats. Cut butter into small pieces, and cut butter into flour with a pastry blender or two forks until mixture is crumbly. Stir in the chopped nuts.

Butter a 9-inch square baking dish. Spread apple mixture in bottom of baking dish then sprinkle with flour mixture. Bake at 375° for 30 to 45 minutes, or until apples are tender and topping is lightly browned.

Serve warm or at room temperature, with vanilla ice cream or a little heavy cream, if desired.

Oh it was so good!

P.S. I've linked up this recipe to Lil' Luna.

Featured Seller - Cloud 9 Design

I'm so excited to introduce a new seller and fellow blogger! Today's feature is about my friend and co-worker Sarah Harding the creative mind behind Cloud 9 Design. Sarah and I met a couple years ago and became fast friends. Although we work in the same building and in different departments we still try to keep up with what we are doing. So without further adieu here she is!!

I am Sarah and I love to craft! I live in Tempe AZ with my husband. I have loved making jewelry since I was in High School, but it has just been recently that I started to sell what I make. It started with my friend who also makes jewelry we went to a couple boutiques together and from that point I have enjoyed making jewelry and selling it and I want to continue to do so. It is a form of stress release for me to create things. At this time I just sell jewelry. I have an etsy shop that is slowly growing where I do my selling the name of the shop is Cloud9designbysarah but I also have a blog where you can view all my jewelry which has not appeared in my shop yet at Cloud 9 Design.

Thank you Sarah! Here are a few of her designs. I just love them!

I apologize for not posting anything that last couple of weeks, I had taken time off from work for vacation time. When I take time off from my day job, that means I turn my focus to my home to get it in order. It was a disaster that DESPERATELY needed my attention. Now that I am back to work and my house is in order, sigh, I will be back to posting. YEA!!! I do have a few things that I was able to work on in between keeping house. :) I will be posting them soon, AND I have a couple projects up my sleeves too!!!

Stay Tuned!
